Compulsive Sexual Behaviours

Compulsive sexual behaviours, often referred to as 'sex addiction' or 'porn addiction', occur when a person feels that their sexual preferences or sex drive are beyond their control. This situation can lead to distress for those affected, as well as for partners who may uncover these behaviours.

Addressing sexual compulsivity represents a more modern, sex-positive approach to understanding behaviours, contrasting with the traditional pathologizing methods some therapists may adopt by viewing these behaviours through the lens of addiction.

Our team of counsellors are here to assist clients in exploring erotic thoughts and uncovering the underlying factors contributing to compulsivity, such as trauma, shame, relationship challenges, or psychosexual issues. We understand that for many, sex can become a means of coping with or escaping uncomfortable emotions and distress.
